This absolutely amazing artist can capture wonderful shapes and colors on the streets of my favorite city New York. Every photos as thoughtful compositional intent. Absolutely amazing. She is not only active with the online photo community but also in the offline photo community. She has made printed material and galleries as well. She is my inspiration.

Dear Susan, I appreciate very much your gallery and your abstract pictures. A few days ago I was leafing through some monographs by Franco Fontana and you came to mind with your fantastic images. Congratulations on your works and your wonderful gallery.

[Susan] specializes in taking abstract snippets of urban life and can create something very interesting, even beautiful, out of everyday sights that most people would walk straight past! I love that and am secretly really pleased that I've found someone else who likes to take abstract photos of quirky things I might very well take a shot of too!

Quite a nod to Arte Povera in much of what you show on Vero.

I love the way you see things. I tend to follow people who teach me new ways to see familiar things. That's always been my favourite photography.

Ray V

A beautiful composition Susan; I'd love to go for a walk with you. Just to see how you find these images. Your work is absolutely stunning Susan. Love everything you do.

These unlikely textures becomes so luxurious in your images.

Colleen

You have the most amazing eye. Thank you for showing us a world that we just walked past every day.

Rust, leaves, puddles, steel plates, splatters and shadows and spills of all kinds. When most people wander through this city, this small horizontal island of Manhattan, it is common practice to look UP. Not so for Susan Bowen who is attracted to the abstract spills embedded in the streets below. Visit her work to see what catches her uniquely discerning eye that is fixed down in the streets of New York and what art she manages to extract/create from underfoot.

Yes.. Structure from Light and Shadow...so delicate

Susan produces remarkable images from the mundane, the messy and the commonplace. If, by some slim chance, you're not following her already then take a look at her work - and discover, for example, how something unpleasant underfoot can become altogether marvellous.

I enjoy seeing all the cool accidents you find and how you make them into art. :)

Congratulations on your creative and extremely unique style of photography. It is so refreshing to see something that has not been. It just goes to prove what is said that our cameras and lenses are just the tools of the trade, the real art and creativity comes from the artists (photographers) individual perspectives and skills.

Mike C

Hahahah - love scrolling up to each one and being surprised by what comes next.

I'm assuming this is a tyre track, though it did make me put my thinking hat on. This is the kind of stuff archeologists will one day in the future discover and also wonder what the hell it is. Hahaha. Well done Susan.

So rich. Like the word detritus. I love that word for its uniqueness and artistry. Like your work Susan of beautifully caught and displayed detritus. :) (and far from mundane from your perspective).

Susan, the balance in this abstract is so on point (not pun intended). Where the red road may feel like it is taking over, squeezing the white textured area, the arrow saves it by pulling the viewer back left and up through the image, giving that small white spaces multitudes more presences and almost feeling as if both are equally balanced. well done.

Doug F

Nicely framed and abstract composition. I like how I can look at it and see different shapes
